Please help us find the Silver Surfer of the Year 2008!

Nominations close: Thursday 31st July

What makes an exemplary Silver Surfer? We're on the hunt again this year and want as many nominees as possible from over-50s resident in the UK who are using Internet and email.

A winner could come from any background, and may (or may not) be relatively inexperienced with modern information technology. The important qualities are to do with how they've used their knowledge and how it has helped them to connect with others: friends, family, colleagues, social groups, self-help groups, community groups, etc.

The overall winner will receive a high-spec laptop and two runners-up receive £250 of Amazon vouchers. They'll be awarded on October 23 at the Houses of Parliament by MP Stephen Timms, Minister of State for Employment and Welfare Reform at the Department for Work and Pensions.

Third Birthday Party

My, my how time flies. Would you believe it, Felinfoel Senior Citizens Group is three years old. So in true tradition, we are having a celebration on Wednesday, 26th March between the hours of 2.00 p.m. and 5.00 p.m. at Tirwnys Complex, Felinfoel. All invited. But what can you expect? A buffet will be provided - free of charge of course - plus hot and cold drinks. We promise not to bore you with too many speeches but we are sure there will be something to make your visit worthwhile. Do come along!

Silver Surfers - Holiday time

Just to advise everyone that unfortunately for you (but hey, hey, lucky for me) I have had a surprise holiday booked so there will be no Friday sessions on either 1st February or 8th February. Sorry about this, but we will resume activities on Friday, 15th February.

Got some old photos that are in dire condition and you would like to put a bit of life back into them? Why not bring them along and learn how to scan them into the computer and touch them up to make them new again.

Many, many apologies for not replying earlier but unfortunately had a slight problem with computer this end. What we suggest you do, if you can spare the time, just pop in any Friday between 10.00 and 3.00, when the club is running, for a chat and see what it's all about.
