Treftadaeth Brynaman Heritage
Carmarthenshire Connect recently met with the Treftadaeth Brynaman Heritage Group based in Brynaman to help them promote their work on the Carmarthenshire Connect blog.
The group was set up by a small group of local residents in 1998, and having being run successfully for the past ten years has been going from strength to strength. The group want to actively encourage and develop an interest in the heritage of Brynaman, and aim to preserve and collate as much information about the locality and its people as possible to ensure that its rich and diverse heritage is preserved for future generations to come.
Over the past few years, the group have worked alongside other organisations on a variety of projects, from recording the 150+ shops once flourishing in the area to producing books of coal mining memories.
Below is a video of the groups chairman, Colin Jones, explaining a little more about the history and formation of the group:
Brynaman Heritage have also been working closely with the Black Mountain Centre in Brynaman to permanently display historical items, photos and letter dating back over 50 years.
